Cipinang Prison Documentary

Cipinang Penitentiary Prison is one of Jakarta’s maximum security prison well-known for holding notorious criminals, terrorists and convicted murderers. In 2008, A well known Indonesian producer and DJ, ‘DJ Stan’ who is a former Cipinang inmate, decided to organize a Hip Hop festival dubbed “The International Cipinang Hip Hop Festival” on prison grounds featuring Joe Flizzow, DJ CZA and MC SYZE. 


The documentary highlights DJ Stan’s challenges and story organizing a festival in one of the world’s toughest prisons. 33.3™’s co-founder, Edwin Raj, was responsible for capturing the historic moment of Hip Hop artists performing to a crowd of 4,000 inmates in the first and only Hip Hop festival in Cipinang Prison.
